Sentencing

Interview with Luis, Kelly, Cheryl, Tina and Shaylee

JM: How long was your sentencing for?
Luis: I was in jail for 28 days before I went to court and once in court I was given time served.
Kelly: 1 day
Cheryl: 1 year
Tina: Not sure just yet
Shaylee: 5years, no probation or parole

JM: Did you spend time in a holding cell after your sentencing? If so, what was that like? If you didn't where did they they take you instead?
Luis: Yes I did spend time in a holding cell both before and after sentencing. It was hot crowded and smelled like urine. Oh and after court since we had to spend so much time in the holding cell we missed dinner and had to go hungry that night.
Kelly: yes. they forgot about us and there were 8 of us in there for 9 or 10 hours
Cheryl: Yeah, I was in there for awhile, it stank and there was quite a few of us in there.
Tina: No spent time in holding cell before being taken up to the medical floor cell area
Shaylee: It was a releaf to know my outcome, however it was awful waiting for that moment.

Why in Okc does it take one ,two ,three yrs. to go to trial? They try to make you plea bargain is why. If you are innocent ,I would never plead to a lesser charge , but then you rot in jail as my son is doing. He lost his home, his job, his truck, his car, his dogs, and hardest of all for him to lose is his 3 kids. Why because of a woman who wanted him completely out of her life and with kids not going to happen, so she put him in jail with lies. It would of been kinder to my son and his family and friends if she would of killed him , she is, but slowly. Does she care? No, she moved in with her boyfriend ,he bought her a new BMW , she got a deffered sentence after taking two illegal drugs into a Court house and State is baby sitting her kids in foster care. But the DA and courts believe her not my son!!! Explain this as I guess I am dumb because I just can not figure it out!

Yes, prisoners can expect to stay in a holding area indefinitely until court time and that sometimes .. considering no restroom facilities are available in a holding tank .. one will urinate on the floor or into a styro-foam cup. Reasons for such incidents are that some officers don't pay attention or care, staffing shortage that requires a deputy to do numerous things in addition to watching their court prisoners or on and on goes the reasons why this or that happens. Nobody should have to wait and squirm until getting a restroom break ..causes potential health problems too.
